Morning Blessings

"Dear Lord, I open my heart to Your coming. Come close to me, Lord, and let me yield my whole being to You. Teach me to know myself and to fill my empty being with the radiant life of Your love, that I may become a fountain of blessing to quench my own thirsts and to offer love to meet the thirsts of my companions on this journey to You."

Peppermint Paint

Today was a hot, humid, about to rain kind of day. I did not want to spend the morning at the park. The beach would have been lovely, but the other things we had planned for the day did not allow for the beach to fit into our day. What would be fun, novel and include nice cool water? "Peppermint Painting!" I painted a lot in the Spring and Summer with my pre-school classes. My students loved to paint with easels, with their paper clipped onto the fence, or with soapy water and paint brushes. Today I added peppermint essential oil to soapy water and grabbed a paint roller. My youngest(3 years old)was ready to paint. I swept our walkway, while my youngest painted our wall and door. I was behind him with a towel, so that no one would slip on our walkway. My youngest was wet and cool. He was busy and full of smiles. The soap helped clean our door and the peppermint oil will hopefully keep away bugs. This activity helped foster his imaginative play and assist in the gross motor skills that will eventually lead to the fine motor skills needed for handwriting.

Happy Summer!

Another Fun, Fabulous and Free Day

I forgot to tell you about GWiz! We visited GWiz one Friday afternoon. It was a great way to escape the heat. The kids enjoyed the 3-D Art display, the health display, animals, and machines display. My youngest especially loved the new child's play area. I appreciated that the play area is inside and well padded. We are members of Mote Marine, and for the summer we have reciprical membership Happy Summer!

Rest Today

"Lord, our God, we are in the shadow of Your wings. Protect us and bear us up. You will care for us as if we were little children, even to our old age. When You are our strength we are strong, but when we are our own strength we are weak. Our good always lives in Your presence, and we suffer when we turn our faces away from You. We now return to You, O Lord, that we may never turn away again."

A Gift From Dorothy ValcĂ rcel, Author When A Woman Meets Jesus Dorothy@Transformationgarden.com

"Lord, help us to be patient
With our children,
To give them time
When they need it,
To listen to their views
However much they may differ from ours.
Help us in our conversations together
That we may always trust each other.
As our children search for knowledge
Help us to learn with them."

Summer Beach Runs

This is a copy of an email I received about Summer Beach Runs! We went last night and now we're hooked!

School is out for summer! Parents looking for activities for the kids have
an ally at the "Kids' Summer Beach Runs." Presented by Sarasota County
Parks and Recreation and New Balance Sarasota, the beach runs are the
perfect way to let kids work off that summer vacation energy. The runs are
offered every week through August 11 at the following locations: Siesta
Beach, 948 Beach Rd., Siesta Key and Venice Pier, 1600 Harbor Dr., Venice.

Registration at each location begins at 5:30 p.m. and the 1-mile beach runs
start promptly at 6:30 p.m. The Siesta Beach Run is held every Tuesday and
the Venice Beach Run is held every Wednesday. A one-time registration fee
of $1 lets kids compete in as many of the beach runs as they like.

Kids who complete four runs, receive a free T-shirt and a 50% off voucher
for a pair of New Balance Kids shoes. The runs can be completed all at one
location or mix it up and visit both beaches. All runners win a ribbon and
a free ice-pop each time they run! The "Kids' Summer Beach Runs" are a
great way to get some exercise and have tons of fun at the same time. The

Southeastern Guide Dogs

This summer our goal is to find adventures where we live! The less expensive the better! We look forward to sharing them.

Today we visited the campus of Southeastern Guide Dogs! We pet puppies, got to see the campus and even walked an older dog. The boys loved it. All of them(including my handsome husband) wanted to bring home a dog, :).

Please check out their web site and see how you can contribute to their amazing work! We have!

Love

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16-17)

Healthy Living with Autism

During the first day of my spring break I attended a conference on healthy living with autism. I loved it. It renewed my desire to be the healthiest I can be and to share that with my families. It also helped me learn more about the biomedical treatments available to medically treat autism. There will be a cure for autism.

Mommy Musings

Today I needed some Vitamin V(time for Vida). I decided to take a drive and walk around a historic part of Downtown Sarasota called Laurel Park. Laurel Park is beautiful. It has a great history and is in the center of all things I love about Downtown Sarasota. I was especially interested in looking at Spanish Oaks Apartments. Nestled amongst brick paved streets and cute cottages, I wanted to see whether Spanish Oaks be a nice place for our next home. Looked quiet and safe, but saw window AC--which would be a bad idea for someone with severe allergies like me.

I then took a walk to the shops in the Whole Foods plaza. I enjoyed browsing in Simply Spoiled. Simply Spoiled is filled with beautiful jewelery, pretty nail polish and indulgent make-up and body care. I picked up a new wrinkle cream/ concealer. It will definitely help with the dark circles, while I work on helping my body heal from over-sensitivities. I even took a minute to sit quietly with a cup of coffee and GF chocolate chip cookies at Starbucks.

This had been a busy week..looking for new places, spring break coming, a visit to the Sarasota County Fair, potty party prizes. My baby isn't a baby anymore. I'll have to tell you all about it, but right now, a little man wants to play fire truck man with me.

In everyday there are new beginnings.

Breakfast with the Boys

This morning I decided not to cook. I decided to take my boys to brunch and leave my husband a quiet house. We ate brunch at the Island Bakery, next to the New Balance Store on Stickney Point road. It is a Gluten free, Wheat free bakery with an array of breads, cakes, cookies, scones and subs and sandwiches. They had pies, and muffins and pot pies and lasagna.... It was so exciting to be able to walk into a store front and order a sandwich I didn't have to make for myself and smuggle into a resturant to eat with the rest of my party. We also really enjoyed our chocolate cookie scone. Samuel enjoyed a piece of vanilla cake. We topped it off with OJ and an organic Vanilla Latte for me. After we had fun visiting the Fruitville Library and shopping at Dettwieler's Market. Another beautiful day in Sarasota. Are you Gluten Free? The Island Bakery ships food all over the US. http://www.islandgfbakery.com/

Vitamin V

Time for me. Sometimes just a minute. Sometimes interrupted. Tonight, maybe a minute to use a fruity facial scrub and a sweet smelling lotion on my hands while little boys read books before bed....

I get so busy.....

One day, after not blogging for months, I just free wrote. Here were my random thoughts.

I am taking 5 minutes just to write, write, write, I have work and school(I'm taking college courses to keep my certification up to date) and kids....and what about me? I am following through on some of those New Year's Resolutions. I am attending
a women's group Bible Study/ Book Club once a week. I am drinking more water. I am using the 5 love languages in my relationships with my boys(little and big). I am taking care of my skin--masks, scrubs, dry brushing. I am dreaming with my husband. I am praying out loud every day(sometimes hourly) and modeling it for my sons. I am holding my husbands hand. I am often given "kudos" for being able to see the big picture and the details in situations. Sometimes I forget living is in the details-- the way my babies smell, the thrill of my husband coming home and time alone with him, the excitement of good friends coming to visit. Love, love, love.

In the end nothing we do or say in this lifetime will matter as much as the way we have loved one another. Daphne Rose Kingma
